2022 Pesticide Applicator Training Program Information

This is a summary of information on Pesticide Applicator Training (PAT) and completing your certification or re-certification (including options for training & testing at Extension Winnebago County). Step 1: Buy Your Training Manual

No matter how you complete your training and/or testing, EVERYONE needs to purchase their own Training Manual. The manuals each have a unique PAT certificate number that you will need to give to the proctor at the time of your training and/or exam.

Training manuals can be purchased online – UWPAT Store: https://patstore.wisc.edu/secure/default.asp We do NOT have training manuals available for purchase at the Extension Office in Winnebago County.

Step 2: Training Options & Registration

  1. Self-Study (read Training Manual on own). Exam is open book and a Score of 70% is needed to be certified using this option. See Step 3 for scheduling your exam.
  2. Complete an online, ZOOM or in-person training. A Score of 50% on the exam is needed to be certified using this option. You will still need to take the exam in person, see Step 3 for info.
    1. NEW! Online Training – Access to the NEW online training is included when you purchase your training manual at the UW PAT Store (under General Farming): https://patstore.wisc.edu/secure/default.asp .
    2. Zoom Training on own – Participate in this statewide training (led by Glenn Nice of Madison), from the comfort of your own home/farm. Glenn will be offering training via ZOOM on: January 25, February 15, March 15 or April 5. Register at the UW PAT Store (under General Farming): https://patstore.wisc.edu/secure/default.asp
    3. Attend an in-person training at the Extension Office in Winnebago County
      Date: Wednesday, January 26 at 9:00am (40 spots)

      James P. Coughlin Center (JPCC), 625 E County Rd Y, Oshkosh
      Trainer: Glenn Nice, UW-Madison
      Training is from 9am-12:30pm. Exam will follow training. We will not be providing a meal, but feel free to bring your own lunch/beverages. Refrigerator and microwave are available. Registration Deadline is Wednesday, January 19. Call or email Jody to register: 920-232-1970 or bezio@wisc.edu
    4. Zoom Training – watch at Extension Office in Winnebago County. We’ll take care of all the technology & registration for you!

Note – There is no additional fees for attending in-person or zoom training in Winnebago County. All training fees are covered under the cost of purchasing your training manual. Lunch is on your own, please bring with you that day.

Step 3: Schedule an Exam

We are proctoring exams on WEDNESDAYS at the Extension Office in Winnebago County. Exam times are 9-11am or 2-4pm. Please schedule your exam by contacting Jody at: 920-232-1970 or bezio@wisc.edu

  • EVERYONE must bring their Training Manual with them to take exam. The Exam proctor will need the unique number/certificate from your book to submit with the Exam.
  • If you completed an online or zoom training on your own, you will also need to bring your training receipt/completion to the exam. The exam proctor will need to submit this information with your exam. If you do not have your completion certificate/number, you will need a score of 70% to pass the exam.
  • If you are attending an in-person or ZOOM training at our office, you will complete the exam that same day, following the training.
