Compassionate Care: Post-Traumatic Growth

The beauty of growth is that you do not have to find silver-linings when challenging events happen. You don’t have to be thankful for the pandemic, but you can have gratitude for the ways that you’ve grown. How have you changed that is meaningful to you?

Things to consider:

  • Remember: two things can be true at once. You can think, “I wish COVID had never happened, but I’m really thankful that XYZ happened because of staying home more.”
  • You may choose not to go back to large events because you realized you didn’t miss them, but what activities did you miss the most last year? Why? How can you design those gatherings to meet your needs?
  • What have you learned about yourself that you want to continue to nurture? Make a plan to keep that new hobby, relationship, or group that you joined.
  • Reflect on what you missed most last year ad finds a way to honor it. There is no deadline for honoring a loss, celebrating a milestone, or recognizing a change.
