The “ber” months are right around the corner and that means all things fall and 4-H! Here are this week’s updates…
All clubs that are forwarding record books to the county level need to have the books at the Extension Office no later than October 15th. Youth: please check with your club leader for your club’s record book due date. Record book guidelines and pages can be found on our website: https://winnebago.extension.wisc.edu/4h/record-book/
THE NEW YAC
Are you in 6-12th grade and looking to help plan and participate in a few fun adventures? Our Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) has a new twist! Introducing the new Youth ADVENTURE Committee!
What will the new YAC do?
- Any Winnebago County 4-H youth in grades 6-12 can join YAC. There is no selection process.
- Youth that would like to join will meet a few times a year to plan three to four adventure and fun-filled activities for 4-H teens to attend. (ex: Snow tubing, kayaking, bowling, zip lining, Brewer or Timber Rattler game, etc). The YOUTH decide on and help plan the outings.
- We are focusing on the 4-H Essential Element of BELONGING. YAC will help provide opportunities for teens to get to know peers from other clubs in the county and have fun in a safe environment.
Re-enrollment for the 2022-23 4-H year will open on 4HOnline September 6th and close on November 20th. Project selection must be finalized by January 31, 2023.
Please see the attached document about re-enrolling. This info will also be in the Sept/Oct newsletter.
JOIN OUR 4-H INTERSTATE EXCHANGE PROGRAM!
There will be an informational meeting for all youth and families interested in joining Interstate Exchange on Sept 11th at 4PM at JPCC. We hope to grow this program in our county! Anyone in grades 7-12 can join.
SUBMIT YOUR YOUTH & ADULT AWARD NOMINATIONS
Our 4-H Family Banquet is coming up on October 22nd (see attached invite) and each year you have the opportunity to nominate youth and adults for various county awards. Please see the attached nomination form and awards rubric for more info.
There also will be 10 spots open on the Leaders’ Association Board. Up to 4 spots can be filled by youth! Please consider running! Board Nominations (and self nominations) can be emailed to email@example.com
HAS ANYONE SEEN LUCY’S HAT?
Lucy sewed an adorable bucket hat and entered it in the county fair, but sadly, when she went to claim her exhibits, it was gone. Please contact me with any info you might have on the whereabouts of her hat. She worked really hard on it and is so sad that it went missing.
The next newsletter will be available electronically by next week (August 31st) on our 4-H website and will also be snail mailed to all families.
