INTERSTATE EXCHANGE FOOD STAND THIS WEEKEND
Our Interstate Exchange program’s youth and families will be running the food stand during the WIHA Horse Show this weekend at the Winnebago County Fairgrounds. Stop by for some good food and to cheer on our 4-H-ers participating in the horse show!

FARMERS MARKET TOUR

Location: Main Street, Oshkosh (exact location will be shared in email confirmation)Learn how to shop for fresh, local food! 4H Foods project youth will team up with FoodWIse for a tour of the Oshkosh Farmers’ Market and receive $10 to spend at the market! Pumpkins, Apples, Egg Rolls, Fresh Bread, Hand Pies – so much to choose from!
Youth will gain confidence in:
- Navigating the market to find the best prices
- Talking to local farmers & vendors
- Using food assistance benefits at the market
- Selecting healthy food that you and your family will enjoy

NATIONAL 4-H WEEK IS OCTOBER 1-7
National 4-H Week is a great opportunity for 4-H clubs and projects to share their love for 4-H with others, recruit new members, and also thank those in the community that have helped support the 4-H program! This year we have TWO really cool contests happening! Plus, you can win some cool 4-H swag if you win the contests! Learn more about the contests below:
Why I LOVE 4-H Poster Contest: Grab your colored pencils, markers, crayons, or paints and let your creativity flow by participating in the Winnebago County 4-H Week Poster Contest! Create a poster (can be any size) about why you love 4-H! Posters are due at the Extension Office by October 6th. Submitted pieces will be displayed on our social media pages after National 4-H Week and winners will be chosen in each grade category (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-13) Winners will receive some cool 4-H swag!
Social Media Drawing: Break out your 4-H t-shirts, smiles and cameras to submit your entries into our social media challenge! Take a photo of yourself or someone in a 4-H t-shirt and share it on our social media any time during National 4-H Week! Don’t have Facebook or Instagram? No worries – photos can also be emailed to the 4-H Program Educator (dana.berger@wisc.edu) and will added to our county 4-H Facebook and Instagram pages! Participants: be sure to tag @WinnebagoCounty4-H on Facebook or Instagram so we see it! We will also have some cool prizes for our social media contest. Get those t-shirts, take a picture and tag us!
2023 4-H FALL FORUM
Save the Date for the 2023 Wisconsin 4-H Fall Forum! Fall Forum is an opportunity for youth and adult leaders to come together to connect, collaborate, celebrate, and continue building excitement and energy for a new year of 4-H learning! The Fall Forum weekend is planned by a team of youth and adults from the Wisconsin 4-H Leadership Council (which includes our very own Finn Lettau and Evan Numrich!) with the support of county and state staff. 4-H COUNTY-WIDE EVENT: PEOPLE OF THE WATERS TOUR
Attend this great county-wide 4-H project enrichment opportunity at the Oshkosh Public Museum. November is Native American Heritage Month, and we will be touring the People of the Waters Exhibit on November 18th at 10:30AM. The cost is $3 for youth and $8 for adults. Participants will also make a Native American style basket. See the attached flyer for all the details and how this event can align with 4-H projects and fair entries.

THANKSGIVING COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENT

Join Foods Project youth, parents, and siblings on this no-school day (for most).
Date: Wednesday, November 22
Time: 9:00-11:30 am
Location: 2911 W. Evergreen Drive. Appleton, WI
Age Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 10 years old. Youth, ages 10-16, must be accompanied by their parent or guardian for the duration of the volunteer shift
Volunteers will participate in a packaging, labeling, or sorting initiative. This will range from repackaging bulk products into family-friendly sized portions, packing a meal box for one of our specialty programs, or quality checking donated items before they reach one of the 35 local food pantries. We will complete the event with a tour of Feeding America’s impressive warehouse and learn about their organization.
Please arrive 10 minutes early to allow for check-in. The Volunteer Program staff will do an orientation for the activity. Please note this volunteer activity takes place in a warehouse facility that is cool; please dress in layers.
