4-H AMBASSADORS

The 4-H Ambassadors will be marching in summer parades. All 4-H families are welcome to join us!

  • Winneconne Sovereign State Days Parade: July 20th. We will meet at the parade line up by the elementary school at 9:45AM. Parade starts at 10:30 AM

SPOTLIGHT STAGE SIGN UP!

Back by popular demand we will be having a Spotlight Stage for 4-Her’s to show off their talents and promote 4-H. All 4-Her’s are welcome to perform, demonstrate or give a speech.

• Music, singing, dance or drama performances

• Presentation of a fair project

• 4-H Educational Travel presentations (Space Camp, American Spirit, etc)

• Educational presentation, demonstration, or speech

• Promote 4-H

• Other (we welcome your creativity!

Saturday, August 3rd 1:00- 4:30PM

-Performance slots are 10 minutes long.

-You may sign up for one or more slots, depending on how much time is required for your presentation (including set-up and take-down).

OUTSTANDING EXHIBITOR APPLICATION

Any Junior Fair exhibitor who shows dairy, beef, sheep or swine and is in grades 9-13 as of January 1st may apply for the Outstanding Youth Exhibitor Award. The award will recognize youth who have shown exceptional involvement in their project throughout the year and will be presented at this year’s Winnebago County Fair. See attached application.

4-H BASKET RAFFLE

Basket Raffle It’s time once again to plan to put together baskets for the 4-H Leaders’ Association Annual Basket Raffle held at the 2024 Winnebago County Fair! We need the support of ALL 4-H Clubs to make this year’s raffle a success. Anyone can donate a raffle basket! All clubs are encouraged to donate a theme basket(s) (bath/spa, movie night, child-themed, holiday, sports, gardening, camping, birding, cooking, grilling, artist, etc). Don’t forget to contact local businesses or individuals. All are welcome to donate baskets to support 4-H! Can’t donate an entire basket? Individual items can be combined with other items or placed in baskets by the Basket Raffle Committee. All baskets must be:

  • In a container of some kind – basket, tote, bucket, cooler, etc.
  • Wrapped in cellophane or a clear plastic bag to keep things clean and help ensure that the contents stay in baskets while on display at the fairgrounds.
  • Include a clearly displayed card/sign listing items in basket, thanking any donors, and stating the club’s name.
  • NO perishable items, NO alcohol, NO tobacco products
  • Baskets must be dropped off at the Extension Office by noon on Friday, July 26, 2024.

GET READY FOR MORE IN 2024 AT THE 4-H DIPPER!

We will be offering a limited breakfast menu for 2024! We will have coffee and pancakes with syrup and butter. This means we will have new morning shifts available for those volunteers who may be busy during the other shift times. The NEW 2024 Dipper hours will now be:

Wednesday 7/31/2024 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM

Thursday 8/1/2024 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM

Friday 8/2/2024 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM

Saturday 8/3/2024 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM

Sunday 8/4/2024 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM

What we Serve:

  • NEW FOR 2024!! Open for limited breakfast with pancakes and coffee from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM
  • NEW FOR 2024!! We will have a dedicated, single spindle shake machine for vanilla and chocolate shakes for those with allergy concerns
  • NEW FOR 2024!! On Saturday, we will have mint chocolate chip as our flavor of the day and a portion of the sales will be donated to the Winnebago County 4-H Educational Endowment fund
  • Shakes, malts, sundaes, build-your-own floats and beverages from 11:00 AM to close

What will you do

  • Dipper shifts are between 2 and 3 hours
  • Some shifts have extra time for cleaning, setup, closing, and shutdown
  • Adult/Older Youth (8th grade and up)
  • Manage the cash drawer
  • Scoop ice cream
  • Make shakes and malts
  • Help supervise our youth and younger volunteers
  • Support Dipper staff in setup/closing procedures
  • Assist in counting money at closing
  • Younger Youth (Cloverbuds through 7th grade)
  • Serve drinks from cooler
  • Take orders on the iPad
  • Put toppings on sundaes
  • Everyone
  • Be the face of Winnebago County 4-H at the fair
  • Smile
  • Help wipe down tables and benches to keep our space clean
  • HAVE FUN!

Please continue to review the signup genius and watch your weekly e-mail for specific shift news, updates, and other important volunteer information. 

Clubs can sign up for shifts but we ask that the individuals that will be working the shift sign up for their times so we can learn names and know who is coming to help us work the shifts. Remember, the idea of the signups is to add flexibility to YOUR fair schedule. Pick times that will work for you and your family or you and your club and help us out! It is a great opportunity to meet other youth and adults from around the county you may not see on a regular basis.
