Grandparent Support Group Position Posting:

Paid Volunteer Childcare Provider

We are looking to create a qualified pool of 4 – 6 caregivers (adults, age 18 years and older) for one evening per month throughout the school year.  Any qualified applicant would be part of a team of professionals supervising and interacting with several children (ages 0 – 16 years) for 3 hours, one time per month, while the children’s grandparents/caregivers are attending the support group meeting.  We are seeking candidates with experience working with children with diverse needs in group-based environments.  Pay is $17.00 per hour.

Job Responsibilities/Description:

  • Actively engage in all aspects of the evening with children, including set up, playtime, mealtime, crafts, games, and clean-up.
  • Actively engage with the planning team to discuss ideas, suggest activities, and create a positive experience for all participants.
  • Take specific steps to ensure a safe and positive environment.
  • Applicant must be willing to intervene to manage children’s behaviors to prevent risky child behaviors and ensure safety of all children present.
  • Applicant must focus on the needs and supervision of the children throughout the evening. 
  • Applicant will be an active contributor for coordinating and planning children’s activities for upcoming group meetings. 
  • Applicant will take responsibility for implementing planned activities for any age group during each meeting.

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must successfully complete a caregiver background disclosure form (no cost to applicant).
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Experience supervising groups of children required.
  • Event coordination experience preferred.
  • Applicant must have experience supervising and interacting in an authoritative role with children ages  0-16 years.
  • Ability to be flexible and independent in decision-making.
  • Applicants need to be available from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.
  • Reliable transportation to the site (J.P. Coughlin Center: 625 E. County Rd. Y, Oshkosh, WI 54901).
