NOV/DEC 4-H NEWSLETTER ARTICLES DUE DATE

RE-ENROLL NOW!

All youth and volunteers can re-enroll for the 2023-24 4-H program year. Please see the attached informational guide about re-enrollment.  Re-enrollment closes on Nov 20th.


4-H FAMILY AWARDS BANQUET – LEADERS’ BOARD NOMINEES NEEDED

The 2023 4-H Family Banquet will take place on October 21st.  Come celebrate our volunteer and youth award winners!

IT’S 4-H PIZZA SALE TIME!

Pizza sales help fund 4-H workshops, camps, scholarships and more! Please see the attached pizza order form. Online ordering will be set up soon. Please check with your club leader to see when your club is collecting order forms. Club leaders: Pizza Count Night is October 19th from 6-8PM at JPCCPizza making is November 4th. FARMERS MARKET TOUR

Date: Saturday, October 14

Time: 9:00am

Location: Main Street, Oshkosh (exact location will be shared in email confirmation)

Learn how to shop for fresh, local food! 4H Foods project youth will team up with FoodWIse for a tour of the Oshkosh Farmers’ Market and receive $10 to spend at the market! Pumpkins, Apples, Egg Rolls, Fresh Bread, Hand Pies – so much to choose from!

Youth will gain confidence in:

  • Navigating the market to find the best prices
  • Talking to local farmers & vendors
  • Using food assistance benefits at the market
  • Selecting healthy food that you and your family will enjoy

CLOVERBUD BLAST!
We had a blast at Cloverbud Camp, and now it is time to reconnect with more of our Cloverbud friends for another great day of fun! Mark your calendars for Sunday, November 5, 1:00-3:00pm. There will be fun games, creative crafts and loads of fun. There will be a special ceremony to recognize our Cloverbud Graduates at approximately 2:45pm, so parents will want to make sure they are there! To register, please call the office by Friday, October 27 or email Sarah at sarah.thompson@wisc.edu.

4-H COUNTY-WIDE EVENT: PEOPLE OF THE WATERS TOUR 

Attend this great county-wide 4-H project enrichment opportunity at the Oshkosh Public Museum.  November is Native American Heritage Month, and we will be touring the People of the Waters Exhibit on November 18th at 10:30AM.  The cost is $3 for youth and $8 for adults.  Participants will also make a Native American style basket.  See the attached flyer for all the details and how this event can align with 4-H projects and fair entries.

THANKSGIVING COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENT

Join Foods Project youth, parents, and siblings on this no-school day (for most).

Date: Wednesday, November 22 

Time: 9:00-11:30 am

Location: 2911 W. Evergreen Drive. Appleton, WI 

Age Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 10 years old. Youth, ages 10-16, must be accompanied by their parent or guardian for the duration of the volunteer shift

Volunteers will participate in a packaging, labeling, or sorting initiative.  This will range from repackaging bulk products into family-friendly sized portions, packing a meal box for one of our specialty programs, or quality checking donated items before they reach one of the 35 local food pantries. We will complete the event with a tour of Feeding America’s impressive warehouse and learn about their organization.

Please arrive 10 minutes early to allow for check-in. The Volunteer Program staff will do an orientation for the activity. Please note this volunteer activity takes place in a warehouse facility that is cool; please dress in layers.

PARKVIEW HOLIDAY CAR PARADE 

Ridgeway 4-H Club will again be doing a Parkview Parade in December.  They would like to invite other clubs to join in the fun on Dec. 3rd.  Meet at 2:45pm at JPCC parking lot.  Parade 3:00pm around Parkview to wave at residents (circle 2 times).  Decorate your vehicle Christmas/Holiday themed & signs


ARTS CAMP REGISTRATION

Attention 6th-8th graders! Join us for a weekend of mysterious arts fun at Upham Woods on November 18th-19th!  Join us for a weekend of mysterious arts fun at Upham Woods!  Campers (AKA Secret Agents) will use all their arts skills and learn some new ones to complete 6 top secret arts missions.

We need a top notch team to help us crack the 4-H Arts Camp Code!  Register by October 27th on 4HOnline (v2.4honline.com).

Youth registration: $110; Adult Chaperone Registration: $60. A limited amount of scholarship funding is available upon request.
